307 needs another water pump !

There is a rattling noise , Looks to me like i need another water pump ! sort of sounds like a loose heat shield . Checked the heat shields i do not think they are loose . I took all 3 belts off , found the water pump pulley is loose . Ran the engine for a short while to clean the V s in the crank pulley , there was no rattling noise while the engine was running . Must be the water pump bearings are done . No coolant loss yet.

I seem to be replacing the water pump about every 4 to 5 years . Is this normal for a 307 ? or am i doing something wrong . Is there something i can do to make a water pump last longer on my 307 engine ?

i still have the original big clutch fan , is the big heavy fan part of the issue ? is the issue belt tension ?

i had the water pump changed . bearings were very loose , but not loosing coolant . This car has been in the family since new , so have all the service records . for the past 15 years , the 307 has needed a new water pump about every 4 to 5 years .

Is this normal for an Oldsmobile 307 ?
