I mentioned finding SN Valvoline VR1 20W50. It is supposed to be quite high in ZDDP. This time there was this on the shelf so I grabbed a couple of bottles.
I’m not sure if you guys have menards in Canada but that where I buy oil it’s cheaper at regular price but sale and 11% rebate happen often making it a better deal yet
We do not have Menard's unfortunately. I remember guys going to the one in Minot, ND and getting killer deals. I am happy seeing 20 bottles on the shelf at Walmart. I am going to start stock piling some just in case. It actually has me rethinking a roller cam for the 424, so I can get it done before I die.
Anything like Brad Penn may be impossible to find up here, maybe the one store in Regina, an hour and a half away. I picked up 5 more bottles and will buy the last 5 bottles. This stuff is SL rated, not compatible with some emissions systems and for street use. Here is the Valvoline literature on the SL rated "high zinc" bottles but did find this. Even the SN rated because it is higher than xxW30 weight can have higher levels of ZDDP along with straight weight oils. Valvoline's literature states 1400 ppm zinc and 1300 ppm phosphate even for the SN rated 20W50. The 10W30 is SG rated. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sou...FjAMegQIBxAB&usg=AOvVaw1sCVLvm-pt76ZlhtH0y0jg

Summit and Jegs carry VR1, if you're able to order it and have it delivered up there. I haven't checked Walmart here, but I doubt they would have it. I don't think any of the auto parts stores stock it anymore, and if I'm not mistaken, they can't/won't order it either. This is almost as shocking to me as being unable to obtain 60 series 15" tires at a tire shop. I understand not stocking the things, but not even being able to get them?
Some but sources and brands are limited, Mark Remmel(Cutlassefi) sent me some, probably wasn't supposed to. I know there is a high 1600 ppm ZDDP 15W40 called Collector Automobile Motor oil (CAM) oil, designed for cars like ours, Boss Lubricants makes for them out of Calgary, Alberta. It is sold at specialty retailers, I know at least one place in Regina, 1.5 hours away carries it.
