tires look low on air

I have P215 75r 15 Toyo Extensa tires . I think they are 4 ply . I have a big heavy car so the front tires always look low on air. Have to have 38 psi on front tires and still look low on air . Tire shop said i could go with a light truck tire that would have more ply, but could a person find a tire that does not look like it should be on a truck ! Or another option is to increase rim size , this would reduce the amount of side wall. The down side to a larger rim size is more cost per tire. If i did increase rim size what would be an ideal rim size ? The rim in photo i have 4 , might not use them, but maybe could put 235 60 15 tires on those rims to reduce side wall. Staying with a stock 15 inch rim keeps the car original . any ideas ?

Those SS3 wheels will look good. I find 60 series tires being wider and shorter will look more bulgy than a 70 or 75 series tire. A 235/60R15 has lower 98 load rating vs a 215/75R15 100 rating. A Wrangler HT in your current size has only a slightly more aggressive tread in a LT rated tire. A 235/70R15 has a 102 rating and will only be a 1/2" taller than your current tire and the White letter BFG Radial TA are available in that size

I am also thinking about increasing rim size to maybe 17 or 18 inch . If i went with a 17 inch rim / to get close to my same tire size i have now the tire would be 225 65 17 , so would that tire still have that bulgy look ?
Does anyone on this forum have a B body with rims larger than 15 inch ?

Actually a 215/65R17 is closer in height but is a 99 load rating vs a 102 on the 225. Being a 65 series it should look fine. Almost all radials have a bulge, some brands and sizes more than others.

Had a closer look at the tires i have now, so tread is 4 ply and side wall is 2 ply . Is two ply the least a tire can be ? wonder how many ply i would need to be so tire does not look low on air ? maybe all radial tires on my car will look low on air ? does any one have bias ply on a B body ?

Bias ply will ride different and won't be easy to find. Consider LT truck tires, they will have more plys, should be 4 sidewall plys and B load rated. Another option but I could only find in 205/75R15 and 225/75R15 is trailer tires. They are still radials and will bulge less than anything in that size. I believe they will be D rated and probably have 8 sidewall plys.

I see either 205/75R15 or 215/75R15 were the tire options according to Canadian Tire for 82. Does your door sticker say the tire size?
