What is the consensus on the need for the valley pan on a 455 with a non-egr intake with the exhaust crossover blocked? Cast iron intake and heads. Flat tappet cam.

The narrow factory one helps or get the Mondello valley pan, it's one of their better parts. Exhaust crossover block helps alot. When not blocked gasses going through it are about 1,000°, heats up the oil. Being blocked off and the factory cam area covered I think it'll be fine. I've used an old turkey tray, trimming it down leaving the 4 round push in tads. Tray was still in place when I sold the car.
