I thought that was the direction of your build, using that long list of parts you already had.
We all change directions with our builds. I know I have. My Salon Aero was supposed to be a cheap makeover, now the receipt book is over 2" thick, LOL. I hope your engine exceeds your expectations. (y)
Christian, I don't get it. That seems like waaayyy too much. Can you elaborate on the reason for the $1500 charge? How many slugs of mallory are required, and how many labor hours are they charging for?
This is blowing your "budget Build" out of the water.
I installed my gasket the same way, but used Permatex Ultra Black.
Since I own (4) of these reverse rotation pumps, I also tried to buy a couple gaskets to keep as spares. Nope! A/C Delco has discontinued them, and Fel-Pro has also discontinued them. I have a couple gaskets that were in bad...
I think we should go next year. We need several of us GBodyForum / Oldspower Members to meet there. My big (3) shows I want to do next year are G Body Classic ( Ohio ), Cruisin the Coast ( Mississippi ), Gulf Coast Oldsmobile show ( Houston ).
What would really help is a price. I'd like to have a spare 403, and I have a nice pair of #5 heads to go with it, a new distributor, and a spare serpentine set up. I'm sure shipping would kill any deal we could make. If you were closer... I'm in Houston.
I had planned on going with a group of guys from Houston, but it looks like it's falling apart... If I miss it this year, I will definitely go next year.
More than likely, the engine timing is not set correctly. This could be as simple as spark plug wires not installed correctly OR distributor not adjusted correctly OR timing chain stretched/worn out. YouTube will have videos on all these scenarios. A Chilton automotive manual will have info on...
Some nice parts here. Definitely interested in the :
- Trans cooler assembly. What kind of mounting hardware do you have? Can you include the transmission fittings?
- Plug wires with black wire loom.
Thanks! James in Houston 77373
I definitely think a compression test is in order. My car does not have side strips on the radiator, but my Chevy s10 truck does, and my GN does, so GM used them for a reason.
I like to hear the good. The bad, not so much... Got to get that temp down. If you can get the temp down to a normal 180, you should see a rise in oil pressure, unless it never rises above 15 psi. I would not think that headers, and duals killed the mileage.
